About the Murfreesboro Technology Council

Who We Are

The Murfreesboro Technology Council (MTC) is a Middle Tennessee organization focused on economic development in Murfreesboro, Rutherford County and the surrounding region. We exist to unite the local technology community, and to use that community to bring technology companies, technology jobs and technology education to Middle Tennessee.

Our motto is Network. Engage. Evolve. — and it describes the order in which things actually happen here. People meet, ideas get shared, and the region moves forward.

What We Do

MTC works through events, partners, sponsors, and by sharing local technology news. That work is aimed at several audiences at once:

  • Entrepreneurs and small business owners who need education, connections and practical guidance.
  • Students at every education level, from K-12 through university, plus the educators who teach them.
  • Technology professionals looking for a place to talk shop with people who do what they do.
  • Families and the wider community, because technology now touches every industry and every household.

Technology is a part of every industry today. It enables instant communication — and yet reaching real people in this industry can still be difficult and intimidating. MTC exists to bridge that gap and unite the community through technology.

Why Economic Development

Rutherford County is one of the fastest-growing parts of Tennessee. Our goal is to make sure that growth includes technology jobs based here, not just rooftops and commuters. We want to take advantage of the community resources already in place to add jobs in Murfreesboro by attracting technology companies to Rutherford County.

Just as important, we want a safe space where ideas can be shared by technologists to identify growth opportunities that benefit the whole community. Not a sales floor — a room where people can think out loud.

Our Programs

MTC Engage

MTC Engage is the Council’s recurring community event, designed to spark conversations, build connections and highlight the role of technology in shaping the region’s future. Sessions bring together business owners, tech professionals, students and the simply curious around topics that matter locally — economic development in Middle Tennessee, opportunities in Rutherford County, and the growing impact of technology on our local ecosystem.

MTC Awards

The MTC Awards celebrate innovation, leadership and impact in Middle Tennessee’s technology community, recognizing the people and organizations shaping the region’s technology future across three categories: Innovation, Leadership and Impact.

Community and Education Outreach

Thanks to our sponsors and donors, MTC provides resources to students and educators across the region — because the pipeline for tomorrow’s technology workforce starts well before anyone’s first job.

Membership

Individual membership is free. Members attend member events at no charge and receive updates about events, technology news and outreach opportunities. Organizations that want to invest further can support the Council through ongoing monthly sponsorships or by sponsoring individual events — details are on our Membership Benefits page.

Who Runs MTC

MTC is led by a volunteer team of people who work in technology across Middle Tennessee and share the vision of growing the regional economy by bringing in technology companies and uniting technologists. You can meet them on The Board page.
